Visible Wellbeing

At Scone Public School we have a large focus on Visible Wellebing.

We encourage our staff and students to use their character strengths to help them with their learning and to solve problems. We also help students dial up their strengths to help them to be their best self.

We have a whole school strengths puzzle displayed in our school. This puzzle displays all staff and student's top character strengths. Staff and students in 3-6 completed the VIA Character Strengths survey and K-2 Students learnt about the strengths and chose, with help from their teachers and friends, the strangth they thought best reflected them.

Scone Public School employs a Wellbeing Teacher under the Chaplaincy program. They implement specific wellbeing programs such as Seasons for Growth, Drumbeat, Girl Code, Worry Worriors and individual checkins to support students' social and emotional development.

Scone Public staff have been trained to implement the Visible Wellbeing approach to Positive Education under the guidance of Professor Lea Waters and have had four staff complete the Post Graduate Certificate in Positive Education through Melbourne University. Positive Education offers a range of evidence-based approaches that promote wellbeing and resilience within an educational setting. It not only helps develop character but also promotes learning and achievement.

Each term Scone Public School celebrates with Wellbeing Week. Every day throughout this week the students and staff have activities to participate in throughout the day. It was wonderful to see our parents join us for the morning activities of novelty games, skipping and disco dancing!  During lunch time we had our Super Strength spotters out in force, spotting students using their character strengths and we had a Paper, Scissor Rock competition.
