Visible Learning

Scone Public School is proud to be a Visible Learning school, embracing the recent research into how students learn. Visible Learning means an enhanced role for teachers as they become evaluators of their own teaching. According to John Hattie, visible learning and teaching occurs when teachers see learning through the eyes of students, which helps them to become their own teachers.

At SPS, our teachers make learning visible by developing and using Learning Intentions and Success Criteria to guide students in their learning journey. Students have developed confidence in checking their progress against the Success Criteria, asking “Where am I going?”, “How am I going?”, and “Where will I go next?”

Students from K-6 are becoming proficient in setting goals and measuring their progress. As educators, we are continuously gathering, analysing, interpreting and using information about students’ progress and achievement to improve teaching and learning.
